Parents Corner
This platform is dedicated to parents with children aged 4 to 18 years. Here, our aim is to address the educational challenges faced by parents, particularly those who are newcomers to Canada and may be unfamiliar with the Canadian education system. We delve into various topics, including school selection, identifying crucial developmental stages for children, navigating the current and future job markets, understanding the significance of early education, exploring the evolving education landscape and emerging subjects or disciplines in universities, as well as highlighting the best educational institutions for different fields of study. Empower Growth
4 to 6 years
Did you know that your child can start learning to code as early as 4 years old? At SC4K, we are dedicated to nurturing your child's growth at every stage of their learning journey. Our program begins at age 4, where children are placed in Level Jr as Tiny Coders.
In this foundational stage, the curriculum focuses on block-based coding using code.org's CS Fundamentals, covering Courses A through D. Alongside this, children will have introductory sessions on Scratch Jr, allowing them to practice coding at home. To further enhance their learning experience, we also introduce basic robotics using Sphero robots and foundational AI concepts through code.org.
We are committed to providing a comprehensive learning ladder that supports your child's development in coding and technology from the very beginning.
7 to 12 years
If your child is between 7 and 12 years old, they will be placed in Level 1 to level 3 depends on the age, as a Junior Coder. The curriculum at this level primarily focuses on application development using the block-based coding language Scratch 3. Additionally, they will explore robotics with Sphero and learn basic AI concepts and applications.
If your child prefers to focus solely on robotics, the curriculum will emphasize robotics coding using Sphero with block-based programming and Lego Robots.
13 to 15 years
For children aged 13 to 15 years, we place them in Level 4 as Teen Coders. At this level, the curriculum includes CS Discoveries, covering HTML, CSS, and JavaScript, as well as 3D game development, MIT App Development with AI, and foundational programming languages such as Python, Java, C, C++, and C#.
Additionally, we provide training for competitions, support with high school computer science projects and homework, guidance for co-op programs, volunteer opportunity, and assistance with securing summer IT jobs.
16 to 18 years
Students aged 16 to 18 years will be placed in Level 5 as Senior Coders. This curriculum focuses on full stack development, including advanced HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and APIs, as well as advanced Python, advanced Java, and graphic design using tools like Photoshop and Premiere Pro. As these students are preparing for university or college, we offer flexibility to align their learning with their academic curriculum, allowing them to choose the same subjects they are studying in school. Additionally, we provide training for competitions, support with high school computer science projects and homework, guidance for co-op programs, and assistance with securing summer IT jobs.
Fast Track
How Fast Track Works:
If one of our teachers identifies your child as gifted, they will be placed in the fast track program. In this accelerated path, a level that typically takes one year to complete can be finished in just six months or even less. If your child demonstrates strong self-learning abilities, they may also be advanced to higher levels sooner. For more information, please speak with our coordinator or teachers.
