Introduction

We are thrilled to share the exciting news that our nationwide coding competition, Coders' Coliseum 2026, is open. Organized by Kids for Kids Toronto Coding Club, this event is open to all children residing in Canada, aged 4 to 18 years, and the best part – only $25/competition! Here are the key details:

 

Application Development:

1. Competition Rounds:

   - In-Person coding on 5th September 2026 from 10 am to 6 pm at Commander Recreation Center, Scarborough.

2. Competition Categories:

   - Tiny Coders (4 to 6 years)

   - Junior Coders 1 (7 to 9 years)

  -  Junior Coders 2 (10 to 12)

   - Teen Coders (13 to 15 years)

   - Senior Coders (16 to 18 years)

Robotics Coding:

1. Competition Rounds:

  - In-Person 5th September 2026 from 10 am to 6 pm at Commander Recreation Center, Scarborough.

Competition Day

The final round of Coders' Coliseum will take place on 5th September, 2026, from 10 am to 6 pm at Commander Recreation Center, scarborough.

Schedule and Instructions:
- Arrival Time: 10 am
- Competition Start: 10.30 am

What to Bring:
- Fully charged laptop
- Laptop charger
- Money to buy food and beverages

Dress Code: Casual (denim and t-shirt, pants and shirt, or skirt and blouse)

Event Timeline:
- 10.30 am - 1.30 PM: Coding session
- 2 PM - 6 PM: Presentations in alphabetical order

Parents:
- You may drop off your child and wait in the waiting area or return at 2 PM for the presentations.
- Parents waiting in the area should switch off mobile phones and ensure not to make noise.

We will organize mentoring sessions twice a month from April through August. Fridays and Saturdays 8 pm to 10 pm. You can attend either Friday or Saturday

Final Day of Competition

Coders' Coliseum, our nationwide coding competition, will take place on 5th September 2026 from 10 am to 6 pm at Commander Recreation Center.

The competition is open to individuals aged 4 to 18 years residing in Canada. The mentorship starts from April and goes till August. Participants can practice from home and get guidance during the mentorship.

The ultimate stage, designated as the Final Round, will be conducted in person, bringing together a total of 200 participants at a single venue. Within a span of 5 hours, contestants will undertake the challenge of completing their projects, followed by a presentation before the 3 judges. The breakdown of this phase involves 3 hours dedicated to coding, a 30-minute break, and a concluding 20-minute presentation. As the final round approaches, sample presentations will be shared to aid participants in their preparations.

Robotic coding will feature a single round in September. However, from April to August, we’ll be offering free mentoring sessions once or twice a month, depending on demand. That’s why it’s essential to register in January to take full advantage of these opportunities!

When is the Competition

The Coders' Coliseum is set to kick off in January 2026.  The deadline for the final round will be on 5th September 2026. Mark your calendars, as the grand awarding ceremony is scheduled to take place on 3rd October 2026, at North York Memorial Community Hall.

Price Tag

Prerequisites 

The prerequisites for participating in Coders' Coliseum 2026 are as follows:

1. Residency Requirement:
   - Participants must be residents of Canada.

2. Age Range:
   - Individuals aged between 4 to 18 years are eligible to participate.

3. Independent Learning:
   - Participants should be self-learners, as no coaching will be provided during the competition. There will be mentorship programs bi-weekly to clear your questions and give guidance.

4. Equipment:
   - Each participant should have access to a computer and a code editor.

5. Internet Access:
   - Wi-Fi will be available at the contest room.

6. Acceptance of Terms:
   - Agreement to abide by the terms and conditions set forth by our coding club is mandatory.

7. Rule Adherence:
   - Participants should be able to follow the rules and guidelines provided for the competition.

8. Creativity and Problem-Solving Skills:
   - A prerequisite is possessing good creative and problem-solving abilities, crucial for navigating the challenges of the competition.

Indeed, talent will be acknowledged. In each category, the top 5 children will be awarded trophies, while all participants will receive certificates. Moreover, the overall champion trophy will be presented to the most exceptional coder. In each round, the participant with the highest points will be honored with a trophy. Additionally, the awards ceremony will take place in front of a large audience, providing a special moment to celebrate your achievements. Furthermore, our media partners will publish your accomplishments, ensuring that your success reaches a broader audience.

The "Tech Titan Trophy Night 2026" is an esteemed awarding ceremony meticulously organized by the "Kids for Kids Toronto Coding Club." It is scheduled to take place on Saturday, October 3rd, 2026, at North York Memorial Community Hall.

The Rules

For Tiny Coders, the development of projects can be undertaken using code.org CS Fundamentals or Scratch Jr. 

Junior Coders, on the other hand, are encouraged to utilize Scratch 3 for their projects. 

For Teen Coders and Senior Coders, can use python, java, C, C++ (Any open source/ free community version languages).

The criteria that may lead to disqualification include:

1. Plagiarism:
   - Copying others' ideas or replicating projects from Google without due acknowledgment, highlighting the importance of respecting intellectual property.

2. Copyright Compliance:
   - Utilizing images without proper copyrights, emphasizing the need for participants to ensure they have the appropriate permissions.

3. Rule Adherence:
   - Failure to adhere to the rules stipulated by Kids for Kids Toronto Coding Club.

4. Non-Acceptance of Terms:
   - Disagreement with the terms and conditions outlined by the coding club.

5. Late Submission:
   - Complete the projects on or before 1 pm.
