The block palette is an area on scratch edit screen, located to the left of the code area.

What are the major 3 tabs in block pallet?
Three major tabs are Code, Costume/Backdrop and Sounds. The middle tab changes depend on the selection. If you select a sprite, it will be costume and if you select backdrop, it will be backdrop.

What code tab is?
In the block pallet default tab is code tab. Coding blocks are available in this area. By default, 9 categories and can get more blocks by selecting extension.

Code blocks are different depends on the selection (sprite or backdrop)
The blocks in code tab will vary depends on the selection. An example if you select sprite “Motion” category will be available. But if you select backdrop there won’t be any “Motion” blocks

How to add extension?
There are 11 extensions available in Scratch 3.x. To access that, you must click on the extension icon on the bottom of the Code tab.

What costumes/backdrops tab are?
This is the middle tab on the block pallet. When you select sprite, the label will be costumes and when you select backdrop, the label will be backdrops. This tab gives you a paint tool something like Microsoft paint. You can use these tools to create your own costumes/backdrops or customize your existing sprites/backdrops.

How to choose a costume?
When you bring the mouse over to the “Choose a costume” icon, you will get first option “Choose a costume”. Click on that option and go to the “Choose a costume” screen. You must select the costume and click on it. It will be added to the costumes.
